Like Yourself

Like Yourself

Perhaps the most important thing we can undertake toward the reduction of fear is to make it easier for people to accept themselves, to like themselves.

  1. Something to definitely think about Robert. To like and accept our own selves, what a simple solution with great and wonderful implications.

I remember hearing about how we all long for company and when we have to be alone, we dread it … yet if we find our own company boring, how can we expect others to like spending time with us?

    • Dear Sonya,

Thank you for your visit and comments.

I believe that you have pointed to its truth. I often reflect on how our unaccpeted selves get projected outward, onto others, manifesting as quarrelsome interpersonal relations, tyranny, war, and other misery.

      All good wishes,

      robert

  2. Self-hate results in so many problems – addictions, suicide, mental illness and the list goes on. On a more external level, it leads girls and women to hate their bodies, to be unhappy as they try to reach an unreal ideal and modern media has done much to aggravate this situation. This then leads to an internal, self-hate which leads to so much devastation…

    • Dear Anjali,

Thank you for your visit and comments!

Your observations resonate with me, a father, of a (now) 16 year old young lady. Have you read my post on this blog about my daughter :)? I am keenly aware of how she has been influenced by our societal standards toward women…body image, sexualization, etc.

      All good wishes,

      robert
